| Wow! What a week!! Happy Belated Valentine's Day! Well, I must say that it has been a pretty good week. The 2 snow days that we had though, has messed up my schedule, but the 2 days off was very nice. I LOVED sleeping in! It kind of stunk though that Spiritual Renewnal week was cancelled on Tuesday and Wednesday; I was looking forward to Laurie speaking, she is a cool lady. And I wanted to go visit my preschool kids yesterday and take them their valentines, oh, well. I was also supposed to start 2 new field experiences: one on Tuesday and one on Thursday. I got suprised today, three times! When I was in Highschool, my daddy always got me flowers on Valentine's. Well, last year (first year at college), he sent me a big teddy bear that smelled like chocolate, silk flowers, and candy. Well, I suggested that he send me flowers this year. Well, since the mail room was closed yesterday (due to a snow day), I knew that I wouldn't get anything on V-day, which is fine, but when I told my mom, she seemed worried as if I was going to get something perishible (like flowers) and was afraid what would happen to them whild the mail room was closed and they were supposed to be delivered then. Well, today, at lunch time, I received a package from my mom and dad with tons of stuff in it: a teddy bear, a fun pen, chocolate, heart-shaped peeps, warm gloves, stickers, and this amazing heart-shaped paper weight with water and floating roses and hearts in it. So I thought that that was my V-day gift from them. Then, after lunch, I received a V-day card from them (seperatley from the package) with a dollar in it. Well, then, right as the mail room was closing, I received an email from the mail room saying that I had received something perishible and to come pick it up ASAP. So I rushed over there and sure enough, it was a beautiful boquet of flowers!!! Including 2 red roses, pink and white carnations with greenery in a glass vase. :) I must say that I have the BEST parents in the world! Thanks for reading..... Have a great weekend! Love you guys! | | |
| Desperate for God.... Have you ever been desperate for something? Maybe to keep your New Year's resolution by loosing weight. Maybe it has been to meet a goal of some sort. Maybe for attention. Well, Why aren't we desperate for God??? Today in Chapel, our speaker talked about having a desire for God and really being "desperate" for Him. He had us close our eyes and hold our breath as long as we could. When it felt as if we couldn't hold it any longer, he said to hold it for a few more seconds and to really desire and see God's face. As I was holding my breath, I could see God holding me and the struggle to not "breath", was not so hard. I realized that when you don't concentrate on breathing that sometimes, God does it for you. He is the ONE that keeps us going Hopes this inspires you as it did me. Love you guys! | | |
| Hey, guys! Well, January is almost gone and I CANNOT believe it! J-term is over and tomorrow is the start of a new semester. It just hit me that I only have 1 more J-term and 2 more semesters here at Taylor and then, I am done (atleast that is the plan, for now), so, I am going to try to really enjoy my year left here, making the best of every opportunity I have to do my best and to be involved with the campus. I was home this weekend (Friday night through Tuesday afternoon) for winter break. Honestly I didn't do hardly anything. I started getting sick on Thursday, I barely mad eit through the day at Preschool on Friday, and by the time I got home, I was miserable. Perfect timing, though for mom to take care of me. My mom is amazing! I jus thope my family doesn't end up getting sick though. I caught this aweful virus that is going around: I had a chest and head cold. Except for meeting Lindsay Smith at the coffee shop on Saturday afternoon and going to the Dr. yesterday, I either stayed in bed or on the recliner, in comfy clothes. Well, I hope you all have a great rest of the week and don't be afraid to leave me comments. I love you guys! *Can't wait to hear from you all soon! In Christ, Dee | | |
| Well, I have been at Preschool for a week, now. That is right, I went back to Preschool. I am doing a practicum at a Preschool in Fort Wayne during J-term. (for 3 weeks) I really like it. I am there on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm working with an am and a pm class (both 4 year olds) and then, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I am there just in the mornings with the 3 year olds. Today, I taught for a part of it, while my Professor came in to observe me. It went well. I just love teaching and working with kids, and I am told that I am a "natural". But boy, by the end of the day, my feet are really feeling it. Especially at the end of the week. After getting up every morning at 6:30 am and being on my feet for 30 hours, I am ready for a weekend. Unfortunatley though, I have to work on a research paper, but atleast, I get to rest a little bit. Before I end my entry, let me leave you with this: One day this week one of my little preschoolers was playing dress up (an ADORABLE little girl) and I told her that she looked like Cinderella and that she needed a castle. Well, she looked at me and said, "I need a Prince." With such innocent eyes. It was so cute, but I wanted to say, "Ya, me too." Have a blessed weekend! I love you all! | | |
